SCMA provides high quality Islamic education taught in a comfortable, safe and modern classroom setting. Our Maktab classes are available for both girls and boys, and scheduled for two hours in the evening, each day of the working week. Our teachers are experienced and fully-qualified in both Islamic and Arabic studies.
The Maktab classes aim to fulfil the obligation of teaching your child Islamic knowledge in a caring, vibrant and secure environment. It's a great opportunity for your child to gain maturity, develop their Muslim identity, and build their level of confidence.
There are additional congregations being held due to the ongoing challenges around parking.
The English Khutbah will take place 30 minutes before the Jamat time. The Arabic Khutbah will begin 5 minutes before the Jamat.

The British Islamic Medical Association (BIMA) will be conducting a Lifesavers course at Sutton Coldfield Masjid on Saturday the 28th of September. The event will commence after Dhuhr prayer Insha'Allah. It includes videos and hands-on training on Basic Life Support, Recovery Position and Choking Management.

On Saturday March 2nd, SCMA hosted a Ramadan Awareness program for new Muslim brothers and sisters. Imam Mustaqeem Sahab delivered a special talk on Ramadan, which was followed by a brief quiz , Q&A and an open discussion. All those who attended were provided with goody bags containing leaflets, an English translation of the Quran, and a packet of Madani dates.
SCMA are aiming to host more sessions for new mulims in the coming months. These dates will be advertised on the website, insha’Allah.

The Qur'an Halaqa will now take place on Wednesdays at 7:45 PM. The aim is to improve our standards of Tajweed. The session is open to all reciters of any standard, even beginners. The class will be taught by Dr. Rami (certified as Mujaz), one the senior Quran teachers at Sutton Coldfield Masjid and an expert in the Science of Tajweed.
The Halaqa is held free of charge and performed online via Google Meet (link below). All age groups are welcome.
The class runs for about an hour depending on attendees. On the day the focus will be on reciting one page of the Qur'an. Each reciter will read half a page. Dr Rami will then correct any Tajweed errors during your recitation. A brief explanation of the page recited (Tafsir) will be given at the end of the class.
A big thank you to all the volunteers during the Iftari provision. There are too many brothers and sisters to name here, but the reason why the Iftari provision was successful was entirely due to everyone involved with many attending throughout the blessed month of Ramadhan.
Many people have kindly given us very positive feedback about the iftari provision and have expressed their thanks to the volunteers. May Allah reward everyone involved and reward them abundantly for their hard work for the benefit of our community.

Sutton Coldfield Masjid is pleased to host visits from local schools. A visit to the mosque is an opportunity for children to understand how faith and sacred values shape and enrich the lives of the local Muslim community. A usual visit to the mosque is about 45 minutes, and includes a short talk, a few interactive activities, and guided tour.

Due to the completion of terms, two trustee positions will be open for election in the coming weeks. SCMA would like to thank Dr. Shahid Nadeem and Dr Aqil Chaudhrey for their valued contribution.
Elections have been scheduled for Sunday 7th July 2024 from 2-5 PM Insha'Allah. The term for trustees is 5 years.
Applications will be accepted from existing SCMA members who are living in a Sutton Coldfield postcode B72-B76 (proof of address maybe requested) and are up to date with membership fees. Eligible candidates must be members in line with clause 9 of the constitution.
The membership fee was increased to £20 per month in November 2022. Members who have not yet increased their monthly payments to £20 will not be eligible to vote in this election. You can increase your membership payments up to and including the election day to be eligible to vote.

SCMA are initiating a donation campaign for multiple upcoming projects, including replacing the ground floor carpets, upgrading the security system, enhancing Wi-Fi connectivity, painting the ground floor, and removing unused radiators. Our goal is to raise £45,000 to cover these projects, and your generous contribution towards these initiatives is greatly appreciated.
A collection will be done on Fridays and over the weekend after the Isha prayer throughout the month of Ramadhan.

Following our previous communication we are writing to confirm that elections will be held for four working committee members, on Sunday 5th of November 2023, after Dhuhr Salah until 5PM insha'Allah. The AGM will also take place on the same day at 6 PM insha'Allah at the Masjid.

The current SCMA committee term has come to an end. Elections will be held for the entire working committee including Chairperson, Vice chair, General Secretary, Treasurer and four working committee members. There will also be opening for one Trustee post as Dr Suhail Muzaffar’s term will soon come to an end. We would like to thank the committee and Dr Suhail Muzaffar for their valued contribution to SCMA over their time in office.
Elections will be held on Sunday 5th of November 2023, after Zohar salah until 5PM, Insha'Allah.

Due to the growing Muslim population in the Sutton Coldfield region, we are seeking to appoint someone to teach Islamic education to young boys and girls who live in and around the town.
Classes will be taught at the Masjid, situated on Anchorage Road, Sutton Coldfield. Currently, children between the ages of 5-14 attend the Madressah, with classes run on weekday evenings lasting two hours, from 5-7 PM.
The local demographics include Muslims from the Asian sub-continent, Africa and Middle Eastern countries.
- Be certified by a reputable Islamic institution and ideally be a Hafiz / Hafiza or Aalim/ Aalima
- Have a comprehensive knowledge of Islamic Shari’ah, Quran, Hadith, Seerah and Islamic jurisprudence
- Be fluent in English and have excellent verbal and written communication
- Be dynamic, innovative, forward thinking, committed and able to attend to the spiritual needs of the young Muslims
- Take an active role in the Madressah and set the highest standards for teaching and learning
- Take pride in Islamic excellence, whilst maintaining our commitment to an enriched curriculum

- Teaching students based on curriculum guidelines set out by the Masjid
- Supporting the leadership team to implement the school’s development plan
- Assessing and reporting on student performance and behaviour.
