Eid Prayers Confirmation & Schedule.

The latest weather forecast suggests it will be dry on Friday morning. Therefore, with the grace of Allah, we will proceed with our existing plan to hold the Eid Salah in Sutton Park, InshaAllah.

SCHEDULE

The Eid prayer will take place at 10:00 AM. We recommend arriving at least half an hour prior to the Jamat time. The Salah will be led by Imam Siraj.

Please remember to bring your own prayer mat, a shoe bag, and attend in a state of Wudhu.

LOCATION DETAILS

Sutton Park, Boldmere Gate, Sutton Coldfield B73 6LH.

Parking is available on-site but spaces are limited. We therefore recommend car sharing if you are able to do so. Park responsibly and be mindful of other park users.

Two additional congregations will be held at Sutton Coldfield Masjid:

As the blessed month of Ramadhan draws to a close, we understand the eagerness and excitement surrounding the arrival of Eid.

An official announcement regarding the day of Eid al-Fitr will be made on Saturday (29th), after Maghrib, and will be posted on our website.

We kindly ask for your patience until then, as we will not be able to confirm any details before the official announcement is made. Please avoid contacting us with inquiries about the Eid date before Saturday’s announcement, as we are unable to provide any additional information.

Once a venue reaches full capacity, attendees will be asked to wait for the next prayer. Volunteers will be present to assist.

The Eid prayer will take place across four congregations this year - two at the Masjid and two at Sutton College Old Sports Centre.

The deadline for all applications is Tuesday 18th March. You must review our Itikaf Guidelines before you apply. Spaces are limited, and places are on a first-come, first-served basis.

SCMA are pleased to announce that the first day of Ramadhan will be Saturday 1st March 2025. This means the first Taraweeh prayer will be held tonight Friday 28th Feb, insha'Allah. Isha is at 7:45 PM.

LIMITED ON-SITE PARKING

We encourage only those who have difficulties in walking long distances to use the on-site carpark. Spaces will not be reserved.

New Defibrillator at Our Masjid


Alhamdulillah, we're pleased to announce that we now have a defibrillator on-site at our Masjid. This life-saving device is available for emergencies and can significantly increase survival rates in the event of sudden cardiac arrest. Having this equipment ensures that we are better prepared to protect the health and well-being of our community members.

We are pleased to announce an update to our Friday prayer schedule, starting 17th January. To address increasing overcrowding, parking challenges, and ongoing building work in the ladies' area, we are introducing an additional third Jamat.

The revised Jumuah timings are therefore as follows:

Due to the reduced time between Dhuhr and Asr over the coming weeks, we are adjusting the Friday prayer schedule to accommodate the shorter time frame. Starting from Friday 6th December, we will be holding two congregations instead of three.

SCMA Trustee Elections 2024

SCMA Trustee Elections 2024


Due to the completion of terms, two trustee positions will be open for election in the coming weeks. SCMA would like to thank Dr. Shahid Nadeem and Dr Aqil Chaudhrey for their valued contribution.

Elections have been scheduled for Sunday 7th July 2024 from 2-5 PM Insha'Allah. The term for trustees is 5 years.

QUALIFYING CRITERIA

Applications will be accepted from existing SCMA members who are living in a Sutton Coldfield postcode B72-B76 (proof of address maybe requested) and are up to date with membership fees. Eligible candidates must be members in line with clause 9 of the constitution.

The membership fee was increased to £20 per month in November 2022. Members who have not yet increased their monthly payments to £20 will not be eligible to vote in this election. You can increase your membership payments up to and including the election day to be eligible to vote.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS

If you wish to apply for the above-mentioned posts, please kindly submit your nomination by Isha Salah Sunday 23rd June 2024.

SCMA Maktab Teachers Needed

VACANCY FOR MAKTAB TEACHER


Due to the growing Muslim population in the Sutton Coldfield region, we are seeking to appoint someone to teach Islamic education to young boys and girls who live in and around the town.

Classes will be taught at the Masjid, situated on Anchorage Road, Sutton Coldfield. Currently, children between the ages of 5-14 attend the Madressah, with classes run on weekday evenings lasting two hours, from 5-7 PM.

The local demographics include Muslims from the Asian sub-continent, Africa and Middle Eastern countries.

WHAT WE ARE SEARCHING FOR


- Be certified by a reputable Islamic institution and ideally be a Hafiz / Hafiza or Aalim/ Aalima
- Have a comprehensive knowledge of Islamic Shari’ah, Quran, Hadith, Seerah and Islamic jurisprudence
- Be fluent in English and have excellent verbal and written communication
- Be dynamic, innovative, forward thinking, committed and able to attend to the spiritual needs of the young Muslims
- Take an active role in the Madressah and set the highest standards for teaching and learning
- Take pride in Islamic excellence, whilst maintaining our commitment to an enriched curriculum

DUTIES


Your duties will include:
- Teaching students based on curriculum guidelines set out by the Masjid
- Supporting the leadership team to implement the school’s development plan
- Assessing and reporting on student performance and behaviour. - Attending and taking part in staff meetings
- Support in the general administration including class attendance, new admissions, programme leavers and the payment of Maktab fees.
